I’m Good For Some Bullets

Belinda, from Ninja Poodles, is truly missed and I have made promises to keep her updated. There are far too many highlights so far and the conference hasn’t even begun! Becky and I traveled yesterday and spent the day in San Francisco at the Wharf doing various things.

  • The in-flight movie was with Mos Def. How did they know I wanted to see him again?
  • Are all pilots jocking to become comedians? Ours was testing out his funny material on us the flight.
  • I was in California for all of an hour before I had some guy try to pick me up. He wants me to meet him a jazz club tonight. My husband would frown on that.
  • It is true - I have licked someone already and no one had their cameras ready for it. HA. You gotta be quicker around me, girls.
  • The paper with the hotel’s address on it is at home so we guessed about the whereabouts of the Hyatt. We parked and went up to the counter to see if this was the right place. Before I got to ask the concierge, I turned around and saw Heather Armstrong standing right behind me. Ummm… I’m pretty sure this is it.
  • It is freaking me out a little when people say, “Oh, yeah! I know Mocha Momma!”
  • People really are calling me “Mocha Momma.”
  • Everyone is commenting on how tall I am. The internet makes me look really short, I guess.
  • JenB and I spent some time getting to know each other last night. Belinda WILL get that picture I promised her.
  • I brought too many shoes. I have guilt.
  • Grace Davis is just amazing. I really do love her.
  • Chase came to have coffee with me in my room this morning (SHE’S HERE RIGHT NOW) and is looking through my pictures.

    Opening Day

So, after walking three-quarters of the way around the Hyatt, I find the entrance to the BlogHer madness. There’s the registration table, and then all the exhibitor tables. As I’m in line to grab my bag, I see Steve Garfield…

you probably don’t know this, but jenB and I met years ago when we both lived in the same chilly canadian city (and she was working at the university i attended.) She’s indeed wonderful; I concur.

That, and this comment, are perhaps the dual-epitomes of my personal achievement (if such things exist).

Is it super hectic downtown? I might have forgotten to mention that this weekend is the San Jose Grand Prix and a lot of streets are closed. Oops.

    Hey squirrely girlie,
Sounds like you are having your usual blast; different day, different city. Whatever happens in San Jose, Stays in San Jose, much to the chagrin of Kenimus. ENJOY YOURSELF, but BE CAREFUL!!!

    toodles.

HAHAHAH! Kelly, it’s almost as good as being there. Keep the updates coming, it’s manna from heaven to my famished soul.

Scope out all the possible bars for table dancing next year, as I will be forcibly elevating you onto one and attempting to con you into joining me in a rendition of the “coyote ugly” girls. But only after we drink mojitos to the brink of collapse. :)

And next year? I’ll bring the gourmet dark roast beans and my grinder. See, you want to be my roomie now, don’t you? ;)

Ooo and I’ll send you a whole bag of Community Coffee if you lick Heather for me. I’ll require photographic evidence, of course…

  14. Mocha Said,

Busy Mom - Waaaahhh. I’m sorry that you AREN’T. But I’ve mourned that for a long time.

Chase - Just you wait. Where is my mojito anyway?

Mike - I like the idea of your meeting JenB and commenting on my site are the high points of your life. That’s kinda cool.

Miranda - Ummmm…YES. YOU COULD HAVE WARNED ME. But we got in to the restaurant last night very quickly and then found ourselves in the middle of some festival. Man. Y’all know how to PAR-TAY.

Kevin - Your lovely wife was there. I would NEVER have done it in front of her. Or, if she reads this, behind her back. Or just ever. Because it’s entirely possible she’ll read this.

JoAnn - It’s getting better, too! Just when I think I’ve met everyone someone else crosses my path!

Bob - You should be careful. My husband reads this site. He’s a big mofo, too. On the other hand, I think I recall this licking. Was it yesterday as you said goodbye? Yeah. I think it was. (I miss you, too!)

Juli - You are SO right. The blast will be had. The city matters not. Thanks for the well wishes! ;-)

Joe - You DID. NOT. But, I’m waiting for you to call me. Call me! Call me! Want to come hang out with 700 women? CALL ME.

Dana - Yeah, I am having a fab time. Did you know that Heather is taller than I? She is. The internet makes her short, too.

MeL - Yes! We’ll room together! I shall begin practicing my Coyote Ugly dance. Lick Heather? That sounds like a dare. I can’t resist a dare.

Glad you’re having fun Lady. I’ll try not to be too jealous, if you promise to us all more great stories from BlogHer.

And I’m worried about this licking thing. It’s hot out there in Cali, don’t lick too many people and get dehydrated. Fluids Woman, drink more fluids!

    ;-)

Thank you. Crying more, but thank you. Give Jess another “proxy lick,” for me, please? Also, I haven’t seen her turn up in any of the flickr sets yet, so please oblige.

I am so, SO sick today, that there’s just no way I could have had any kind of fun even if I’d managed to get there. So I really appreciate you sharing (SERIOUSLY CRYING NOW).

    I love you guys.

    Kelly,

Just wanted you to know that you’re in the running to get my vote for “Uber-Blogger” for 2006.

Un-fuggin believable. You leave MSN, at the absolute PINNACLE of fame, and withing a few short weeks, here you are again, right back on top.

Very Well Done, my literate, loquacious, and very funny friend!

    steve

p.s. I envy you, that you are back in my beloved California. I lived in the Bay Area for over 13 years. Anything you need to know, “call me”.

Hey! I wanna know what kind of coffee you’re finding up there in San Blogher Josie. Is there a barrista in the hotel lobby? Any good coffee shops in the neighborhood? Did you sneak in some beans to share with your friend?

If I were there, I would be sneaking into your room and digging through your luggage ;^)
