When the math department is in my office doing their team planning, I sit at my desk getting ready for the three team plannings I have to do after they are gone. They are a fun bunch with a nice variety of personalities who joke around quite a bit. For example, one of the guys gave another teacher a hard time for wearing white after Labor Day. So today, we all decided to wear white.
We are fashion rebels.
When they are looking at math stuff I completely tune out because I AM AN ENGLISH TEACHER SNOB. We fire barbs back and forth about which is more important to learn: math or reading. In my mind, I win all the time.
Today they were having a department breakfast where they all brought in food to share. As they did that, the conversation turned quite lively. Sometimes, discussions turn to the cerebral. Like today. Here are some snippets of that conversation:
- “So. Who watched Grey’s Anatomy last night?”
- “And why do people CALL ME DURING GREY’S ANATOMY?“
- “I know. That is so rude.“
- “I want Meredith to end up with McDreamy.”
- “WHAT? But he. is. married!”
- “SO? THEY’RE IN LOVE!”
- “Well, I’d like to see her with the other guy. What’s his name?”
- “The vet? Eeewwwww. Oh, no. He’s not nearly as sexy as McDreamy.”
- “Ok. But who is the guy who McDreamy’s wife cheated on him with?”
- “Mmmmmmmmm. That’s McSteamy.”
It is as this point where I felt the need to jump in the conversation as these young female teachers are discussing young, hot actors.
“I watched it last night since my class was cancelled. And let me just say: I want McSteamy. He is beautiful. This quiche right here I’m eating? I could eat this off his bare stomach.”

No…NO! She needs to be with Finn. Finn is good for her. Finn is a rock. McDreamy called her a whore. No woman should EVER be with a man who calls her a whore (even if she is) for if he calls you that evil name, he’ll never, ever be able to see past it.
Finn wins in my books. Even though McDreamy is hot and all that, he doesn’t have what it takes to be good for her.
But what do I know……I’m only the BIGGEST Grey’s fan alive and all.

Man, I missed it.
I was at my son’s football game. McDreamy, McDreamy, McDreamy…hmmmm….tasty! That’s about all I’m going to say about him. Whew! It’s hot in this library.

Well, even though I’ve always been a huge Chris O’Donnell (he made a hot Robin) fan, I hate the way she says “Finn” as if she doesn’t like him anyway. I think Finn is too beautiful for her and in fact would make a better couple with McDreamy’s wife (whose name escapes me at the moment). Addison? Although Izzy might be a good consolation grab for finn too. They both lost a loved one.
McDreamy and Grey and perfectly almost-good-looking together. Their on screen chemistry is unmistakable.
It is hot in here. McSteamy, McDreamy, McDynamic Duo, - Make me a McBed, cause I need to continue this sensational Mcfantasy.

hooray for english teacher snobs! i had an argument - er, discussion - last night about why ap prob/stat is more important than ap calc, which i won on the basis that stats makes you write up analyses of the data, which means it teaches more real-world skills than calculus does.
and, i’m almost ashamed to admit, i’ve never seen grey’s anatomy. but “mcdreamy” is a cool enough pseudonym that i’m tempted to start watching now…

Of the three, I’d take McSteamy. But, Burke, better looking than all three combined. Purrr…
Also, apparently my newly repaired doorbell? No longer working so I heard someone knocking on my front door during the show and thought WTF?? Don’t they KNOW that Grey’s Anatomy is on? And geesh, use the bell already! Very tempted to ignore it but it was a TV-less friend over to watch with us.

Now I’m just going to be greedy. She’s so hot she should get McSteamy and McDreamy…. if the pair of them can kiss and make up first. ROFLMAO

You might point out to the mathies that they could not have had that deep and life-affirming conversation without knowing English - nor could they understand the action on Grey’s. Whereas YOU could derive much from Grey’s even if you were unable to put two and two together.

I don’t watch Grey’s Anatomy (to much 24 already), but I can totally relate to the “no white after labor day” discussion. One of our SPED teachers is particularly adamant on the subject and we often wear white just to taunt her.

Ohmigawd! I LOVE THAT SHOW! And I fell in love with my husband all over again when he remembered to tape it for me (I was at work). Can’t wait for next week!
God, I’m such a geek.

Mocha, my husband is also a major English snob (that’s what his degree is in). I’m currently trying to finish my degree and am in ten weeks of college algeba HELL. Oh, and as for Grey’s Anatomy, I’ve never watched it but think Patrick Dempsey is delicious!

Ugh. This reminds me….I need to change from my straw purse to my leather purse. I’ve been putting it off, which is easy when it’s still 90 degrees outside. This weekend, tho, it has cooled down to 85 and I feel like a walking/talking faux pas.
I don’t plan on giving up my flip-flops anytime soon, tho!!

Hiya Kelly!
The MSN Spacers have arrived in town, and we had our first get together last night (7 + Me). Although it was somewhat bittersweet on account of recent events, a good time was had by all, and I feel we gave The King a fitting send off.
I could not sleep last night until I had written and posted an article about the gathering, complete with color glossy photographs with circles and arrows on the back of each one (sorry Arlo).
As to violating the time honored tradition of “What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas” ? Much as I like you, I would never dream of even THINKING of not upholding that maxim, because if I know that if I did, they would never find my body out in the desert somewhere. Sorry!
On to other matters: I have just gone back to read your responses to my comments on your recent posts, and was STUNNED AND DISMAYED to see that you had made NO RESPONSE to any of them. (sniff, sniff)
I can only assume that this must be my fault. That somehow I have allowed the quality of my commentary to slip far enough below the radar to escape your notice. I hereby resolve to try to do much better in the future.
To that end, I really only have three observations with regard to THIS post:
Item: If a person was unable to read, then how in hell could he learn mathematics? Or anything else for that matter? Nuf said.
Item: I have noticed that the level of conversations will eventually (and invariably) level out at the lowest common denominator of all of the participants. That common (pun) denominator will very often be something revolving in or around sex. (another pun - in case you missed it)
Item: I got a vivid visual on the eating-quiche-off-the-belly deal, which I have dutifully stored away in my fast access memory banks, and will be using for my own personal gratification for years to come (pun) I’m sure.
Thank You for that.

Now, see how Dana, Tanilan, Juli, Jenna, Kari, Hannah, Yvonne, Sue, DavidShag, InTheFastLane, Elizabeth, Mommy off the Record, Jessica, and MizAngie are going to feel when I only answer you, Steve?
Hmmmmm? Did you think about that? Nooooooooo.
However, they all pretty much agree with McDreamy, McSteamy and just plain old getting McHot about these tv hunks. (Ok. Maybe DavidShag didn’t really comment on the same exact stuff, but STILL.)
I’ve been a wee bit tied up of late.
Item: I have two classes and three grants to write in the next day or so and they are long and boring.
Item: My precious little girl is home for the weekend (read: hanging out with her friends and fits in time for me when she can).
Item: I’ll try to do better at comments. Or maybe I’ll just answer you. Only if you comment every single day. Nah. Nobody could do that.
*goes to look through archives to see if that’s actually even happened.

I know this is a late comment, I have been out of town, but it has to be said.
Listen up men.
Grey’s Anatomy is a great show. If your wife is not watching the show, make her, and if you can’t get lucky after she watches the show, you probably have issues.
P.S.(pig comment coming)
Since all these girls have gushed over McDreamy and McSteamy, I’ll put my 2 cents in about the women on the show.
Hot. McDreamy’s wife is the hottest! The show would be even better if Meredith and Addison became best friends and well you kmow the rest.

Tom - You want Meredith and Addison to stay up late and braid each other’s hair and put sparkly makeup on? Oh, yeah. Me, too. They could like, sooooo totally be best friends and like…play jump rope and Barbie dolls.
