You Should Feel Sorry For Me

Yes, we were rained out. But! In case you were the ones doing a little rain dance (I saw you, Queenie. You don’t fool me. And, NO, I shall not wear a “D” on my shirt whilst in St. Louis, thankyouverymuch. Unless it is to stand for “Diva” and really… do I need to advertise that any more? I think not.)

Luckily, our seats were covered from the rain but two rows right in front of us? Completely wet. It made for a lot of snuggling.

Which brings me to the snuggling I did while sitting in my seat eating a hot dog and drinking the most expensive beer I’ve ever had (best comment from our group last night: You know, the last time I spent $100 on beer I actually got to get drunk from it.) and stealing some nachos from my sister-in-law. No, I did not snuggle with Kennimus. Instead, I snuggled with the VERY LARGE MAN WHO SAT NEXT TO ME.

When we sat down there was no one else sitting to my right and I got to take over the armrest (a favorite pasttime of mine - see who moves first so you can keep the armrest all the way through a movie or sporting event… ’tis quite fun and amusing for me but I’m just this side of crazy, so don’t go listening to me) and when their group came through I was mostly thinking Don’t you dare spill my $8 beer while you get to your seat. Please don’t. Please. Don’t. Don’t! and I was spared because it was intact. But they they stood next to their seats for a while and milled around and I whispered to Kennimus “I’m totally getting this armrest when this guy sits down. Watch. It’s mine.” and he was all “Yeah, right.”

When Mr. Very Large Man finally sat down I couldn’t even SEE the armrest anymore. His girth took over the armrest. And some of my seat, too.

Damn. I hate losing.

Since it was so cold, however, he made for a fantastic personal heater so I’m here to publicly announce to the wonderful St. Louians that they kept me warm while waiting for the game to start.

Now, wouldn’t this be cool? If the game goes on tonight as planned and the CARDINALS WIN and then our tickets, which are now good for Friday night’s game, allowed us to see the final game if the CARDINALS WIN and I’m at the last World Series game of 2006? Yes, it would be cool.

No more rain dances people. I need good karma. Pass some good karma to me and I’ll share my $8 beer and my personal heater, Mr. Very Large Man. Oh, and I’ll bring Yadier to Belinda. He’s so small he’ll fit in my pocket. However, he is awfully cute so he might not make it down to you. You can come visit him at my house. (The soul patches? Geez. Don’t get me started. On the men I can take it. But the women? Let me say here and now: ALL KINDS OF NO.)

If you’re really good, I’ll snuggle with you, too…

I was watching the news last night and thought of you. They were talking about the game getting rained out and I just groaned.
And $8 beer? Reasons I don’t go anywhere very much. I can buy a 6 pack for less and sit at home.

Well, it made for a good read. And if all goes well, you’ll get two good reads out of it. (Although, I say Go Tigers, as I’m a shameful Cubs fan (But remember, I live in ILLINOIS)).

I was thinking about you though and praying for at least a good experience. Now, had you sat next to that man in August, can you imagine the same heat he would’ve been putting off and the stank! ISH! I’m just glad you found the good in all of it.

Hope you had a great time with G & C. Love them. Glad the orange is back. Love you guys too.

I too am an armrest hog. ;) Althought I do feel a little guilty when I take the kids to the movies, sit one child on each side and then take both armrests. Ok, maybe not that guilty.

I mentioned you in my blog today. I thought I’d tell you myself instead of you doing a search. Stupid bitacle people.

Have a great day. BTW, my new favorite creamer for my coffee is Chai Vanilla. Mmmmmm…..

Yay Mocha! I hope the rain stays away! :) I really want one of those Cardinal hats….that have your autograph on it. It should say something like: To Dana, my biggest fan. Love Mocha, the rockin’ Diva who got to go to the World Freakin’ Series!!

    Or, yenno, whatever! ;)

OK, Kiss Anthony Reyes SQUAH on the mouth, and you can keep Molina at your house. Part-time. I adore you. We’ll be watching for you–you at least made a sign, I hope???

$8.00 FOR A BEER? My God, I must have become a cheap drunk when I wasn’t looking. There is no way in hell I would pay that much for one drink unless it had multiple shots of alcohol in it. Was it like a gallon size cup?

Someone needs to explain sould patches to me please. I googled and got all sorts of nonsense.

I will send oil tanker size loads of karma and love if it means the coffee fairy dust woman will snuggle me. Hey there’s an idea to make Bitacle choke. Let’s auction Mocha snuggles on ebay! Betcha they go for a fortune and then Mocha will never need ad’s on here :)

    Think about it. LOL

    Love Yvonne

In your pocket, squished under my foot. Whichever.

Watching game now…you there? And what’s with all the white folk there?? Seriously. There are an awful lot of blonde, middel aged white women in your Cards stands.

I’m just saying. Not that there is anything wrong with that..

This is for you, Yvonne: http://www.ernietheattorney.net/steves_alibi/images/scott_spezio.jpg It’s a soul patch that he colors RED and everyone is following suit. I forget that I have to translate for my favorite Aussie dragon.

    This is for you, Queen:
I’m home now and will be going back for Friday’s game. I plan to help out both sides by representin’ because that’s how I roll. But honestly, that’s NOT all that’s there. That’s just all the camera shows. Trust me. I saw a completely different crowd last night, but you know us Americans and our Standard of Beauty. Blech.

  12. Belinda Said,

    October 26, 2006 @ 9:48 pm

OMG, OMG, I am so totally STOKED! With you there, I KNOW our boys can end it AT HOME on Friday! Whoo-hoo! (Ouch, I think I popped one of those “hundreds of internal stitches.)

We looked for you SO hard, and once I swore so hard that I saw you that Alex had to run the TiVo back again and again until he could get a perfect freeze-frame. It *was* indeed a latte-skinned beautiful woman acting the fool, as I would have expected of you at that moment, because it was right after Sweet Baby Molina did one of his Good Things…and she actually had like a 4.5-head, and was having a really good curly hair night…but alas, no. No fat guy, no Kennimus, and upon inspection, no real Mocha-ness in beauty or attitude. (And standard-schmandard…I saw more ugly rednecks than anything in the stand shots, unless it was little kids, which were generally adorable.)

So what I’m sayin’ is, for Friday, make a big, witty sign, OK? I’ve reconciled myself to the fact that we won’t be seeing smokin’ hot A. Reyes and his knee-socks again in this series, but if Weaver starts to tank, I want you to go get Tony by the short ones and have him taken OUT. You hear? I’m leaving you in charge.

  13. Mocha Said,

    October 26, 2006 @ 9:58 pm

KILLING me, Belinda. Must. Not. Read comments before bed. Now I’m laughing too hard to get to sleep.

I’m taking suggestions about what the sign should read. I’m tapped right now. It’s all the laughter…

But I’m ENORMOUSLY flattered that you re-TiVoed just because you thought you saw me. All that funny blip, blip, blipping of the TiVo thingie while you scanned for me. But tomorrow I’ll be RIGHT NEXT TO THE CAMERA BOX GUYS. It was kinda nice sitting in our seats last night. Like a warm up for us. I left my butt impression on the seat and it’s calling for me soon…

I hope you had a great time at the game tonight! Go Cards! As I drove home I looked over in the distance to the stadium and said, “Hi Kelly…I hope your warm!” ;)

  15. Mocha Momma Said,

    October 26, 2006 @ 10:18 pm

Nope, Elizabeth. We get to go to Friday’s game as they switched our tickets. I’m sure there was a cold Kelly there, however, and I’m sure she appreciated the sentiment.

    :)

…totally doing my Deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeetroit ju ju witchcraft (just kidding Belinda) as we speak.

Seriously. You can’t be there whilest my team goes down. No. No. NO. NO. NO.

And while you sit there, think of me. THINK OF ME. Because, if you think of me- even only once…you will know how many Tigers games I’ve been too. How many summers I spent at that OLD Tiger’s Stadium. How many summers I spent with my LATE grandfather at Michigan and Trumbel, ending the game with a Coney dog on Layfette.

I neeeeeeeeeeeeeed this. My parents are in town. We’re all crying and sitting and watching the game together.

    Just think of that.

Did I tug heart strings there? I was trying. Stupid cardinals.

  17. Mocha Said,

    October 27, 2006 @ 5:10 am

    Queen,

I head to the game this afternoon with the entire family in tow. I shall do nothing but think of you the entire trip there and for a few moments of digesting my hot dog. But when Pujols steps up to the plate and makes that face of his? Well, honey… I ain’t thinking of you at all.

But then? When I have a beer? I’ll think of you again.

The heart strings. Who knew you were capable? With all your brass and confidence. Geez…. I’m missing my own late grandfather NOW and we never even WENT to a baseball game together! How did you do that to me? You must know I’m awfully sentimental at this time.

Ok. I’ll think of you the entire time.

  19. Belinda Said,

Oh. My. God. I wish my Dad was here. He lived for his Cards, and dangit, it’s been 25 YEARS. And you know what’s funny? I never paid any attention to Pujols’ (yes, I giggle EVERY time) “batting face,” until Alex called it to my attention during the NCLS playoffs. He actually froze the TiVo and said, “Look at that. Look at that face. You just KNOW he’s about to tear something up!”

I love you. I love every single Cardinal. I love them all. I did not need to be shown sad Tigers on T.V., though (I really hate that part of team sports, the losing part, no matter who’s doing it), so I was glad they didn’t do that typical thing of dwelling on the sad faces of small children…faces painted with Tiger stripes. I can’t stand it.

So while I don’t glory in defeating the other team, I do rejoice, and think fondly of my Dad, over the St. Louis victory.

And this, too, might show up as a short post over at my place. Don’t be surprised.
