A Pablum Post

Some observations in a bullet-style post that attempts to convince you I am too busy to write an actual post but in reality I love the simplicity of the whole thing.

  • I have a contest going on. Seriously. Sure, it’s cheesy, but don’t you want something I send you in the mail? Something I’ve touched? Possibly licked? Something to show your friends and family members so you can boast that Mocha Momma sent me this? I thought so. You’re so transparent.
  • The Rosemary Ginger Chicken from Meal Makers is so good that all I did was take it out of the bag and both my sons ran into the kitchen exclaiming, “WHAT IS THAT SMELL? I’M HUNGRY. WHAT IS THAT? WHEN ARE WE EATING?” The oven wasn’t even on yet. Incidentally, the directions said to discard skin before serving. What kind of craziness is that?
  • Sneezing during sex. Is there anything more embarrassing? I had this thought while having a sneezing fit during a speech before a group of teachers the other day. Not sure why I tied sex with teachers, but I did.
  • Morgan kicked my butt at Cranium the other day. He won by guessing, TOTALLY GUESSING, at what the word “pablum” meant. (Answer: Mindless or dull writing or entertainment - appropriately, pablum is also a bland cereal for babies.) I smugly thought he’d lose on that one and leave an opening for me to win the game, but he guessed.
  • I made up a dish the other day by putting chicken thighs, heavy cream, curry powder, chicken-flavored soup base (basically, crushed up bouillon), and jasmine rice in a dutch oven and baking it for an hour. Don’t ask me the measurements. I don’t know. It just came together in a Nigella-type manner. It was awesome.
  • Searching Technorati last night I realized that RW wrote something about me, TedFoo wrote something about me, and Libby re-wrote something she left for me (a fantastic comment, too - it was amazing). I was touched.

Um… Kelly… just so you know? From a guy’s point of view, when a lady sneezes during sex, it really freaking HURTS!

Sneezing during sex is not as embarrassing as farting. Usually my husband has his perfunctory belch afterward.

    *sigh*

I guess after being married almost 10 years ya just don’t hold back!

He GUESSED the def. for Pablum???? WOW. I’ve never sneezed during sex. I have gotten a case of uncontrollable giggles. That was a mood breaker for him. No idea what brought them on…but I could NOT stop giggling. And I think that contest is awesome. I am already planning where to place the shrine put the recipe :-D You didn’t really lick it did you?? I mean..I think it’s awesome to win something from one of my favortist (yes..I know it’s not a word) bloggers…but…you didn’t REALLY lick it did you?

remove skin from chicken??? you’re right. what madness is this?? the recipe for the curry chicken also sounds good.

if you;re a curry fan you should try this recipe:
    http://gingajoy.blogspot.com/2007/01/i-think-this-post-might-be-complete.html

It’s healthy, and even skinless, but totally lush.

    definitely not “Pablum,” this post.

I would never have guessed that pablum meant something other than horrible bland baby food!!! Learned something new today…! Also… Meal Maker doesn’t cater to us Canadians (da’yum) ‘cus that sure sounded delicious and the gods only know how much I want to cook after a loooong day at work. But what’s this removal of skin process? Don’t they know its the best piece of the chicken when all crispy?? Shhheessh…

    Take care hon!
    Ciao bella…

And sneezing is nothing….what about farting? And no, I have never done that! Seriously! But, there have been times when I ask him to stop for a second so the need will go away! :-)

Contest - I thought I already won that. you mean I didn’t win. DAMN, what more do I need to do - Lie?

Chicken skin, sneezing during sex, and Pablum - what do they have in common? I have no idea - your brain must work like mine - overtime all the time. Any ADD in that family tree of yours?

More picks please - it is why I come here afterall!!!

I think I’ll try that chicken dish also. Sounds good. Isn’t it funny how the strangest things pop in your mind when you are teaching? When you are looking at a room of 15-20, all doing different things, its easy to do.

I am amazed at the connections that brain of yours makes sometimes. Is it wrong that I cheered for Morgan?

RW - Do you think I don’t know that? Do you think I haven’t heard, “HOLY CRAP. OWWWW.” before? ;-)
VENTL8R - “Perfunctory belch”. Hilarious. And yet, I feel the need to say how sorry I am that you..umm… have to deal with that.

Chris - I will, in fact, lick it. Then, you will have my DNA. And you can clone me. I’ve been needing another me for a while. So, thanks for that!

Joy - I am a HUGE curry fan! Thank you for the link. I’d prefer you just make it for me, though…

KC - Crispy chicken skin is. the. best. That’s why God put it there. It says that in the Bible or something.

J to the Wall - I cannot look you in the face anymore. I just can’t. Ever.

Mike - Tons of ADD in my family. None in my fork of the tree, though. I’m learning by osmosis. And what kind of picks are you looking for? I’ll try to accomodate.

    J. Jones - Oh, good! You’re a brave soul. I’m afraid of what other things pop up in my brain that I’ve forgotten about and I really should write them down but that would be a disturbing post, I’m sure.

Tanyetta - Well, we all know now that YOU do… hmmm.

Von - First, I’m not calling you “Dragon-Mum” in my comments. Ever. I know your freaking name. First and last. Second, it’s not wrong at all to cheer for Morgan. It was a good win for him. I was just shocked he got it.

Gee, that is bad. Someone like me who has never drank a single cup of coffee in their life has no chance in this contest.

    Oh well..
