21

by Mocha Momma on June 1, 2007

What do you want for your birthday, Mal? Besides the obvious DRINKING INTO THE WEE HOURS OF THE NIGHT?

I’m so glad you asked. I want 21 cupcakes. And I want them to be in the shape of “21″. Chocolate for the “2″ and vanilla for the “1″. Then, I want green and pink icing on them. Alternating colors, please. And a candle in each cupcake. Other than that, I’m not sure what else I want. Except to try lots of grown up drinks: white russians, mojitos, martinis…

Food and drink. That’s my girl. I know I created that princess monster. Happy Birthday, Mallory.

Happy Birthday to Mallory!

My daughter says the same things but she still has two years to wait. Muahahaha!

And she doesn’t and has never liked the taste of alcoholic beverages! Is she nuts or what? But she’s mine and I love her. ;o)

Again, best wishes to your girl.

Ahhh, 21. I was able to vote & buy liquor at 18. I bought liquor immediately but it was a coupla years before I exercised my right to vote. (The only exercise I’ve gotten in years, by the way!) No wonder they changed the law back to 21 after ten years. Ha!!

Happy Birthday Mal and congratulations to you for having such a brilliant and beautiful baby girl!!

That’s a pretty “detailed” request on the cupcakes. But, all of the pictures (here and on flickr) are great. Looks like y’all had a great time!

I hope Mallory’s birthday was great! I love the cupcake idea!! I hope you got to go out with her…my mom came out with me on my 21st. It was so fun. Your girl is WAY more brave than I am though…I stuck to beer, and I’m pretty sure I only had two shots. Don’t worry, I had plenty of fun!

When I look at Mallory’s picture I get all verklempt. This is one of the moments a mom is so privileged to witness: a daughter reaching maturity with all her wits and self-esteem intact and surrounded by a loving family! The sparkle in her eyes, the beautiful smile, my god, Kelly, you are one lucky mama!!

Many happy returns, Mallory. You are a lucky girl!!

Now that you’re old enough, please come drink with me in Chicago.

P.S. have your mother explain the name.
