As it’s Friday and my week has included the death of a former student and the high energy of my boys I knew the inevitable hitting-a-wall was on its way. This one is a sturdy brick one that showed no mercy.
I sneezed 8 times in a row when I hit it.
My throat is closing up.
Watery eyes are making my mascara smudgy.
Everything sounds muted and I am forced TO TALK LOUDLY AND HAVE STRANGERS LOOK CLOSELY AT MY EARS FOR THE HEARING AID I’M SURELY WEARING.
There are things clogging up my nose. Maybe this is what’s in store for me this weekend.
If I could just run full speed at this wall and have it knock me unconscious for the weekend that would be great. Humanitarian, even.
I’m going to have a make-out session with some throat lozenges and a hot towel.

Good luck with that!
Maybe a hot toddy?

Ach. Me too. Sore throat. Sick baby. Bad news. Friend angry at me. That running into a wall thing doesn’t seem like a terrible idea.

Get lots of rest (if possible) and feel better soon. I’m so sorry to read below of Carlos death….such a sad, sad thing.
Take care.

Two words. Neti pot. It looks weird, but it is a wonderful thing for congestion. And also for giggles, if someone you love helps you. And it’s technically a yoga cleansing, so if you want to shut yourself in the bathroom and close your eyes and focus on your body, you can. It helps a lot. I find that just standing on two feet and hanging forward (after the neti pot has cleaned out the sinuses!) makes muscles ease and unclench, and I realize where I’ve stored all the pain and stress and misery. Between you and me - sometimes I cry. Out with the congestion of the sinuses AND the soul.

Oh, no. The Neti pot. Belinda is to blame for me knowing how this operates.
Oh. No.

1 Tbl Honey
1 Tbl Lemon Juice
6 oz. hot water
healthy splash of brandy. As much as you can stomach, really.
This is my father-in-law’s no-fail hot toddy remedy. Drink before bedtime, and you will sleep as though you were rocked to sleep at the bosom of heaven itself. Caution: may induce snoring.
Feel Better!!!!
Love,
Mel

I’ve had three doses of Airborne today, an orange, a grapefruit, and enough tea and juices to float a boat. PT tomorrow for aching back…what is it with aging?!
