Grab some hot dogs.
Drink a super frosty cold beer.
Slice some watermelon for the kiddies.
Cool off in the swimming pool.
Enjoy your 4th of July.
What are y’all doing today to celebrate (with apologies to my Canadian friends who celebrated their own day (of independence? I don’t know. Angella? Jess? HBM? JenB? There are a ton of you!) and ring in the new independent year?

You title cracks me up. Happy 4th!
We’ll be hitting a pool party and taking the kids to see their very first fireworks. (scary thought as cranky kids make for a cranky mama) but we’ll see how it goes!

I’m going to my local movie theater/pub combo to see that very movie mocked by professional mockers.

I’ve been debating this question. I was invited to a party tonight through my best friend, Jordan, but I’ve declined. Because although I love the couple who are throwing the party, my most distinct memory of the last party I attended of theirs is sitting on their porch at midnight surrounded by drunk men who were all slurringly hitting on each other while I sat nearby sober and bored and unable to leave because Jordan refused to go home and we came in his car. And I soooooo don’t want to repeat that.
I have a ticket to go to a local fair, but I think I may wait until tomorrow since from what I can see online everyone and their brother is planning to go today.
Soooo, I don’t know what I’m doing. I’m a little ways into a very good biography so I may go out and get some beer, make my favorite food (black beans and rice) in honor of my ancestors, and read. Unless someone else has a better suggestion?

The title is awesome.
Canada day is, to quote my Kindergarten graduate, “Canada’s birthday!”
Basically we do the same things as you guys do to celebrate, only our beer is better (Apparently. I personally abhor the taste of beer.)

“Hancock” is on the list of things to do today.
I am told that Will Smith’s brother just bought a place where I work. I’ll let you know if there is ever a Will Smith sighting.

LOVE the title. No pool here, but we think we’re going to do gratuitous lawn watering. (run through the sprinkler).

Dude……Your bars??
They SO roooooooooock!
Made them today for our block party tomorrow. Happened to sneak in a few crumbs and broken bits….oh darn….can’t let them go to waste, right? Or is that waist?……but I digress. Also made an orange cake with cool whip frosting; kinda like a creamsicle on your plate.

We just came back from an AWESOME family day at the beach. The parking angels were with us, as were the no-freaky-tourists-in-socks-and-sandals-sitting-too-close angels. Grilled Cheddar Brats, surfed, caught, sand crabs, read… and thought about absolutely nothing to do with work because this is one of those days that NOBODY is working.
Except for Canadians.

i painted my nails like american flags - i try to do it every year. if you want photographic evidence, go check out the photo blog (http://laradavidphotos.blogspot.com). i think it’s a fun tradition.
other than that, i spent the day with my mommy and then made her dinner. i love being able to spend time with her.

I tried to watch Independence day on TV and the picture was only using half my new HD display. Tried all format options but most smeared the picture. Went to look for my DVD copy and realized my daughter had borrowed it… two years ago! I’m not looking forward to the digitalization of US television next year.

As it turns out, Will Smith may think he really IS fighting aliens (I’m sorry–THETANS). Who knew? How did we let this happen? Are we really going to sit back and let the Scientologists have WILL SMITH?
OK, I’m better now. I never get enough Scientologist hate-mail, anyway.

we went to my folks in southern illinois where i watched my sister play in a golf scramble. then, i took the girls to watch fireworks at the local airport. g was scared shitless of the noise and s was okay with it, but they both thought it was pretty.
