Wow! Imagine, waiting all this time to meet your mom, and she turns out to be an awesome lady that we all love! How awesome. And she’s just beautiful!!! (And potty trained! BONUS!) I admire you so much. Even more now…
Congratulations on re-connecting she looks alot like you.
I too am a birth mother and very anxious about revealing such to my kids, as the baby I gave up for adoption will be 18 next year. Please share how you shared with your children.
All of your kids are so gorgeous. Clearly your genes are the dominant ones. How drunk do you think I’d have to get you guys for a threesome? Just a hypothetical question.
I often write about the strength and courage of birthmother’s who give the gift of parenthood to those of us who long to be parents but biology won’t all us. I have always respected your own strength and courage and now I have even more reason to. I am happy you have been reunited. I am happy for your child to get to meet her birthmom and learn a little more about herself and her roots.
It makes me sorry for my own children (adopted from Ethiopia) that they will not get to share in a reunion and meeting like you and your child have. Am interested in hearing how it has all gone.
I’ve been a lurker for over a year, but today I really have to come out to say congratulations. I’ll hold you both in my thoughts hoping you sail smoothly through the waters of navigation.
I see a lot of Mallory in her, must be that smile and the eyes. She is gorgeous. Thank you for sharing such tender photographs. Beautiful. Wow, 2 of each…
Your heart must be in the bittersweet hall of fame. And you still keep offering pieces of it to us, your blogreaders. Love keeps turning you inside out and you keep coming back for more. I could go on, but I will just say that it must be a mixed blessing touching so many lives in so many different ways.
Wow… How can you drop a bomb like that without giving us newbies the backstory???!!!! I hope you will write details soon. Congratulations to you both. I’ll bet there wasn’t enough Kleenex around that day!
Wow. I’m just…moved. I hope that you both received what you needed (and continue to do so, if that is what you both desire).
Understanding that there is much to this story that is, and will remain, private (and also understanding that I know nothing about the parents who raised this pretty redhead), when and if you are in the time and mental space to discuss it, I’d love to know whether she was aware that her birth mother was mocha. Whether or not she knew before, did it seem to matter?

How are the other kids taking it? Something like this happened in my family and it was a psychological minefield for a while.
She is gorgeous. Takes after her mama.

Please tell me she inherited the smart-ass gene!

That’s a pretty good way to start posting again. Does she like coffee?
Once again, you’ve made my hand shoot up to my face. She is stunning, as are you. I hope your day was magical.

I always wonder about our kids’ bith moms. They wonder, too.
What an exciting thing for both of you!
Wow! Congrats, and glad to hear you’re OK, I was starting to wonder.
As the mother of 4 adopted children. I am not sure how this makes me feel. Perhaps uneasy.
I am happy for you! I think if this is a good thing for you , then it is indeed a good thing.
You are never without surprises!

Wow! Congrats!

I want to know more dammit!
Looks like a happy ending. I hope she was just what her adoptive parents needed in their life. And what a decision to make.
I’ve been a lurker for over a year, but today I really have to come out to say congratulations. I’ll hold you both in my thoughts hoping you sail smoothly through the waters of navigation.

P.S. My husband is adopted, but never had any inclination to reach out. Glad things worked out for you.
That has brought a huge smile to my face!
And to both of yours, obviously…!
