I have a suggestion regarding the eye cream. It might not be original, but I am 54 years old and am often times mistaken for 40 or younger and I have used the same regime my entire adult life. Nothing ever touches my eyes, as far as make-up removal, except vaseline..NEVER! I clean the rest of my face with a mild "off brand" cleanser and moisturize before bed and under make-up with vitamin E cream...it doesn't matter what brand (I used the $2 jar from dollar general). It works for me. Sometimes less is more...yanno?

Why are my teachers working harder than the students? you hired good teachers. you can't hire kids.

Why do students insist on getting more and more piercing knowing that it will be refused in our school building? When will our school board give up that ghost and just let them do it? Why don’t I care that much about facial piercings when I know that it will be difficult for some of my students to get a job with all that stuff in their face? at some point in their lives, the kids will give up the piercings. As long as their body parts are covered up with decent clothing, I don't see why they can't pierce. Your school board should worry about more important things like paying teachers & vice principals more!! hehe.

How can I expect my students and my own children to be respectful when they see grown folks on television shouting at the president, taking microphones away from young singers to spout off about who should have won an award, and fans who vandalize the home of sports players? all you can do is set the good example that you do and hope that their view of their mother / their role model at school will shape them more than the likes of kanye west

Am I the only parent trying to instill some respect and thought into my children? maybe??

Does anyone make coffee-flavored bed sheets so that I stop rushing to the kitchen in the morning to brew a cuppa? Should I start wearing coffee-colored clothing since I spill it on me so very much? Put the coffee pot on your night stand.

Why are women so HORRID to one another and go for the jugular when they’re upset with another woman? Will I ever encounter another female who doesn’t turn into a psychotic maniac when she’s pissed off about something? Will I ever turn into that woman and backstab other women as much as they seem to come after me? That's always confused me too b/c I've never fought with my friends that way. Perhaps the estrogen explodes?

Are people sending their children to public schools more because they can no longer afford private tuition? Have our numbers ever been this high at the beginning of a school year? We have more and more people from other countries moving into the us. That's how it is in my area which leads to more students obviously. Also, the economy is bad.

Do you floss your teeth on a regular basis or just when you know you’re visiting the dentist soon? dentist. ha.

Am I ever going to get some respite from this financial crap and stop being punished for trying to make more money to support my shoe habit family? probably not

Will Tyra Banks ever quit trying to pretend like she’s sympathetic to Black women and their hair issues? that makes me laugh. No. Tyra likes to mention that she's a strong black woman every chance she gets. My red hair is actually similarish to "black" hair, so I sympathize with you!

Are my efforts to be more green (taking my own grocery bags, walking whenever I am able, turning off the lights when I’m not using them, recycling) really making much of a difference? yes. hopefully. maybe. uh, yes!

What is the best wrinkle cream to use around the eye area? Why can’t I afford the brand I’ve been using anymore? not the one that sarah jessica parker promotes. she looks fab in the commercial but horrid in everything else. i'd go with whatever andie mac dowell is promoting. she looks good!

Where are my favorite pair of green and yellow underwear? Huh? Where? my dog probably got ahold of them and chewed them up.

Does any of this make sense? sadly yes.

I feel exactly as Rebecca does. Unfortunately if I start to answer the questions in the mood I'm in today not only would I get on my soapbox, but it would probably make you feel worse. Ugh!

I'll come back when I feel more positive about the world...sigh.

I only have the energy to tackle one question... and I think I speak for 90% of the human population: I definitely only floss when the dentist calls and reminds me about my appointment next week. I figure, then, it's a good time to go ahead and do that.

The only question I think I can really dwell on today is the one about rude kids. I don't know what has happened other than maybe parents are just too tired and they don't care as much. I think it's really sad that my two sons have been told at EVERY house they go to how weird it is when they call the parents sir and mam'. We live in the Pacific Northwest and it is so uncommon that parents tell them "that's the first time I've ever been called that by one of "so and so's" friend. How polite, how sweet. " Thank goodness my husband is a helluva role model and has insisted to the boys that they continue to talk to adults that way. As well as open doors for women, get the car door for their dates, bring flowers on occassion just because and compliment women, sincerely everywhere you go. He says you never know what kind of day they've had or when they've been complimented last. How much nicer the world would be if every PERSON, not just men, had that same outlook?? Kids are that way just because they have not been taught any better..... Love you Mocha Momma and thanks for giving us more to think about and talk about : )

I like all the answers that have been given.

I am the parent of a multi-handicapped child so I don't have to go through all the piercings and attitudes and all that. But I do have to say that parents need to parent first. You are not your childs best friend and they are not mini versions of you. Nurture them, discipline them, be role models. There are really good kids out there, and they had great parents.

If more parents sucked it up and did their jobs and not just passified their kids to assuage their guilt or whatever, I wonder what the next generation of leaders would be like. I am worried that we are raising a generation who feels that they are entitled to whatever because they have been given everything all their lives.

Off my soapbox, but great post!

I can't answer all of your questions, so I'll just do the ones I think I have the answer to.

Piercings: They want to be unique -- just like everyone else. I really think they'll tire of them eventually. When I was a senior in high school, I had my upper ear pierced, along with 4 holes in each earlobe. After about 5 years, it got old and I took out the one on the tip of my ear and the ones in the fourth hole. Now I just have 3 small stud earring on each side (I'm 33 by the way)

The apple: As someone else mentioned on here, maybe you don't really want an apple. Maybe grapes or strawberries instead? Blueberries are super-good for you. You could try that instead.

Kids being respectful: Parents, parents, parents. That is all.

Private vs. public: Tuition is somewhat reasonable and I'm sure we could find a way to pay for it (our youngest attends our church's preschool, just like our oldest used to). But we want to save up money for family vacations and such. Also, the public school where our oldest attends is very very small and I wanted to give them a chance. Plus, I've gotten to know the principal and vice-principal and I like both of them.

Flossing: Only when I visit the dentist.

Tyra: Just wants to be thought of as being "down-to-earth" even though she makes $20 kabillion dollars. So she's going to keep trying.

Going green: Every little bit helps.

Wrinkle cream: Sensaria-Natural bodycare www.sensaria.com - This is the only skincare line that works for me. Now that I'm over 30, my skin has gotten picky about what works. I haven't used the wrinkle creams yet, but I've heard they work. The Pure Gold, however, is a miracle. It works like magic for acne scarring. A little bit goes a long way.

As for your underwear? Sorry, can't help you there.
