Delurk Already, Would Ya?

Here it is, Thursday night and I haven’t once remembered this week that it’s some sort of delurking week. You know what that means? You’re supposed to comment or something. Perhaps you’re supposed to go out and get those difficult-to-find Eggo Waffles. Or maybe you are to do some jumping jacks every time you read a blog post. Actually, you’re just supposed to leave a comment on a post. Every time you do that an angel gets it’s wings.

I dunno. Maybe I made that up but I could swear I read about it somewhere.

All I’ve got today is a story about the teacher I mentioned yesterday whose very classroom I got to visit today. Naturally, I told her that I wrote about her and then she pulled me into her classroom to see what she calls her Obama Book Wall.

IMG_0038

How cute is that? She’s got the neatest classroom. No, really. It’s neat. She has tables and keeps hand sanitizer on every one of them.

The other story is about a friend of mine who got harassed on his way home from work when a group of people yelled out, “F— you, n—–!” for no reason whatsoever. He’s taking it well, but I’m really wounded for him and can’t believe we still have to put up with crap like that which seems to come out of nowhere. There’s not much more I can say about that.

So. Let’s go back to the delurking part where it was all sunshine and daisies and ponies. Say hello. I won’t bite.

Ok – I am “delurking” – if just long enough to say that I love your new term – delurk. If we all came out of the shadows we could really help each other out. Success on the internet is all about commenting, linking, and sharing – isn’t it? I hope others will take you up on your challenge!

Hi, yeah, I’m a lurker. And it’s not because you aren’t riveting because you most certainly are… it’s just hard to type with a 3 month old in your arms. I told him to quit yapping about his needs for just a second so I could type this one freakin’ comment… ;)

    So there. Delurked.

Hi. I commented earlier today because I sent purses for your store. Found you through Suburan Turmoil at a time that you were not writing much. Am enjoying your daily writing.

With the blogs in my reader I find it easier to accidentally lurk instead of commenting. I fail.
I want a pony. And some Eggos!

    Hi,

I am a big lurker from California. I’m studying to be a teacher, so your blog is fun and educational for me. It’s a gift to read really, so thank you for posting.

    I can’t say i’ve delurked, because I think I commented this week. I think. :)

And about your friend…the last time that happened to me, I turned around and asked that person “where is the n? I don’t see one….” Their response? Way too flabbergasted to answer. Yeah, it still stings, but it is what it is.

    You rock, Kelly!

I’m lurker-esque. I mean, I’m not afraid to comment here and I have in the past quite a few times and all that jazz. Lately, I’m all about reading through Google Reader then going and doing other things. I’m trying to make more of an effort to comment lately because I notice that comments seem to be waning ever since the rise of Twitter.

I like comments too, damn it, mostly because I just want to know who is there!

Consider me delurked – I read you all the time and I love you. Going back to lurking (I’m shy like that).

  18. a.eye Said,

Delurked. I have been meaning to comment on some of your great posts you’ve written this month, but then get caught up with teaching, grading, posting my own, and just trying to live my life away from the laptop.

Thanks for the neat (though sometimes heart wrenching) stories.

With you writing every day, I’ve fallen into lurk-mode. I can’t keep up! I’ve been loving reading new daily bits of wisdom and life and sparkly ponies!

  20. Amelia Sprout Said,

Dang, I’ve been lurking too. I’m not commenting nearly as much as I should be, but you know, work, real life, etc. I’m barely keeping up with reading.

However, I always read your stuff. It is just too good to pass up. I also need to get my arse to the post office so I can mail you some purses. You still need more, right?

  21. Jenni Said,

This is the second mention of de-lurking I have seen this morning. An actual week for the lurkers? Wow. Who knew.

I have lots of lurkers. I don’t bite either in fact I usually answer anyone who I can contact and return visits.
Some times I read and just don’t have anything to add. I hate the “Nice post” comments that pretty much tells me you didn’t even read the whole thing because I was telling about how my poor old cat died or something.

Some people might wish I would just lurk because I talk a lot. I like the sound of my own typing.

Hi, newbies. How is it that so many people just found my blog today? Hmm. Oh. NaBloPoMo. Right.

Well, I’d better answer the question I got from Jenni – she didn’t really say why she named it that (Obama Book Wall) except that it probably has to do with buying books for her Black female students. I can only guess at that, though.

Ok, so if you have a blog and commented here today then I’m going to visit yours and leave comment love, too.

I admit, I’m a lurker. I’ve commented a couple of times, but I have resisted the urge to comment TOO much, based on the fact we’ve never met, and I don’t know any boundaries. I wouldn’t want to accidentally offend you or anyone else by a lame attempt at being “funny”. One of these days I’ll just have to make some time to finally meet you and the Bloody Mary Mafia™ and change all that.

Anyway, I have read your blog for several months now– aka I’ve been lurking for several months now- and I’ve always enjoyed it. :)
