Stuff That’s Weird

by Mocha Momma on April 29, 2010

1. My mom is taking a CNA class at our local community college. She tells me about her teacher, her school work, and what grades she gets on tests and quizzes. Not surprisingly, she’s making new friends and they’re carpooling to class together. Her classmate, Amber, is a former student of mine from about 8 years ago. My mom is taking a class and studying with someone I taught once. Weird.

2. There is just an amazing amount of good fortune coming my way right now and I’m afraid to mention any of it. Any time I share it with someone they say things like, “Ooohh, girl. You been livin’ RIGHT to get this blessing!” or “What good karma have YOU been putting out there?” or “Knock on wood.” It’s no secret that the last few years have been rough on me personally and emotionally and there has been a lot of work put into forgiving myself for some things. Things are looking up. (I just said that out loud AND I wrote it. Holy crap, y’all.) For me, this is all very weird.

3. Have you ever heard of Ree, the Pioneer Woman? She’s invited me to her home and is letting me stay at her lodge so we can talk about shoes. SHOES. I’m going to visit her next month.SHOES. Did I mention that I’m going to Oklahoma to talk about SHOES? Weird, right?

First of all, I’m happy for your good fortune! You deserve it!!

Second of all, um, what, how, what?? I LOVE the Pioneer Woman cooks and basically anything else that she does–I’ve been furiously cooking ranch food ever since I discovered her site. Very happy for you, but very, VERY jealous…

Wow–a trip to P-Dub’s house! Awesome! And all I can think about is could you steal–uh, borrow–her adorable basset hound for me? Have you seen pictures of this dog? He’s unbelievably adorable.

You deserve all this goodness coming your way!

Do they even wear shoes in Oklahoma? Every picture I’ve seen from the depression they’re all barefoot.

Hey sweetie, All the BLESSINGS that come your way your surely deserve. Don’t worry about any spoils. Friends that are recycled are there for a reason. Also, take this opportunity with Ree to throw ideas off of one another. I’m sure the two of you could probably make good friends! Have fun!!! Love Ya Kelly

I have no idea who Pioneer Woman is, but I just wanted to say thanks. I’ve recently started reading your blog – I commented on the parental involvement post. We had already scheduled a meeting with my son’s principal, but we just had a much much better meeting than we would have had if I hadn’t been reading your blog for the past few weeks. Thank you!

Lucky duck! You’re going to talk about shoes? Maybe it’ll be about school and shoes is an excuse…a good one though.
Sounds like fun, enjoy yourself!

PW knows a good shoe lover when she sees one! You two will get along famously. Now, can I come too? I can talk shoes; I’ve got some.
