Hi. It’s The Cuban.
Today is Kelly’s actual birthday.
I know, right? It seems like all we’ve been hearing about is birthdays lately. I suppose that’s my fault since I had her party over a week before her actual birthday which led to a birthday-fortnight for her. But if anyone deserves it, it’s Kelly.
I also thought that is wasn’t really fair that she got to call me out on my birthday on her blog without me having the chance to return the favor. So I stole the keys to her blog for this post.
She referenced the fact that at first I didn’t think she and I would ever really get along. This is how the conversation went with our mutual friend:
“Do you know Mochamomma?”
“I know of her but don’t really know her.”
“Really? Well I think the two of you would get along great.”
“Yeah… I’m not so sure. She seems too arrogant for me.”
And I meant that.
But the more I got to know Kelly and her story the more fascinated I became with her. The arrogance that does sometimes seep through her writing is borne of a self-created confidence because of where she’s been and what she has accomplished in her 40 years.
Kelly is a truly amazing woman. Beautiful, smart, funny, caring… I could go on and on with the adjectives but most of you know this about her already.
Happy Birthday, Kelly. Even though you are now in your 40’s, you still fascinate me. You still make me smile every day. You still make me feel like I’ve won the lottery. Don’t change a thing. You are amazing.
I consider myself truly lucky to have her in my life. Arrogance and all…
