As it’s been a full week already (it’s Tuesday, people! Tuesday and it feels like it’s taken forever just to get here!) I should post the results from the hair product contest before people eat me alive. That would be bad blogging and I could get kicked out of the club for that!
The general gist of the comments from the story I recounted from my horrible experience at Ulta Salon were mostly:
Nu-uh.
Giiiiiiiiiirl…wow. Thats all I can say.
Oh my lord, I just … I just … oh my lord.
What a nightmare!
Holy Hell what in the world???
and
oh, hell no. that’s just plain crazy.
Then, I realized that there were actually more men who read me than I originally thought! What a nice bonus! Hiiiiii, guys.
Ulta Corporate sent me an email last week and said someone would contact me from the local store here, but that hasn’t happened yet. TOTAL FAIL, PRODUCT COMPANY. Tsk. Tsk.
Finally, a few hair product owners and business people offered me some products that I’ll review after I’ve given them a try so I can share with readers. I promise to make those posts super enlightening and add pictures!
This is one of those posts with lots of exclamation points. Sorry! (Again.)
Winning the contest was commenter number 10. Congratulations, Samantha! You have your two favorite products from Carol’s Daughter coming your way. Here’s her comment:
I am shocked by the experience you had at Ultra. I actually had a good friend quit there because of the inapproriate comments her coworkers would make there. It would have been very hard for me not to go off. Smh. I am African-American but mixed with quite a few things which leads me to have a kind of funky hair grade. At this point in time I have dreds. I say for me the best hair product I found was my Carol’s Daughter. It is a line of hair care that I believe is all natural hair care. I usually like to use the black vanilla leave in conditioner with the macademia weightless shine spray. It is utterly amazing and my locs feel weightless and smell wonderful. The carry even body products but since we are talking about hair that is my recommendation.
Both products from Carol’s Daughter get great reviews from what I read and I hope you enjoy them, Samantha!

Another wonderful bonus that came out of this was getting all the suggestions for hair products of which I am a total junkie. When I use the term junkie I am thinking of it only in the highest regard. I could never snort anything or inject it, but if it’s hair product then I am definitely going to be putting that stuff in my hair and getting a high once it turns out that it works.
Thanks for playing and for all the great comments and for not chastising me too much for even bothering to attend a free hair salon experience in the first place even though I’ll never. go. again.
Now, onto books! I’m reading “Money Can’t Buy Love” by Connie Briscoe right now for a review and then I’m delving into Annie Dillard’s “An American Childhood” before my summer is over. What else should I cram in there? You know, as I sit with new hair products on my hair and read voraciously to beat the clock? Give it up, people. You know I’ll be giving books away pretty soon anyway.

My vote is: “Illusions: The Adventures of a Reluctant Messiah”. It’s an amazing book.
