I have long since had a crush on Raphael Saadiq ever since the days of Tony! Toni! Tone!
But this song keeps surprising me this week. It’s Motown-y and 50′s bubblegum pop and skipping down the street while popping your fingers all rolled into one. Be bop around to this song.

His stuff always grows on me. Loved him with the Tonies, growing to love him alone. Good catch, sis.
It’s not me, Edie, it’s my awesome XM Radio! They keep playing him!
My husband LOVES Raphael Saadiq, so you can imagine his surprise when some special party he attended at CES last year featured him as a surprise guest. And my husband seemed to be the only one who knew who he was and was super excited to see him performing there. He said it was like a private concert, with the best seats in the house because no one cared.
OFFICIALLY. JEALOUS.
What a fantastic surprise! Those other people don’t know what they’re missing. It’s all that stupid Top 40 crap. I blame them for everything. Including the recession.
Wonderful, keep it up thanks.
Wow. dont know what to say.
I’ve heard several songs from his new CD…all good.
Back off girl…I saw him first
My husband and I have both been fans of Raphael Saadiq for a long time, and this whole album is great. I get so excited when I like a song by someone else and then find out RS has written, produced or otherwise contributed to it. I feel like, “I KNEW I RECOGNIZED SOMETHING!!”
His last album (The Way I See It) was great for this sound as well. Check out a couple distinct performances of a song from it (Sure Hope You Mean It):

My husband wondered if he was the guy from Tony! Toni! Tone!, we just never bothered to look it up. We are super lucky to have a public radio alternative station in Minneapolis (The Current, they stream), and they play him all of the time. Love him. Plus, I totally have a thing for guys with glasses.
