Today I have a music quiz for you: Who’s the Luther Vandross of our time?
Answer: NO ONE. NO ONE CAN REPLACE LUTHA.
That obvious fact notwithstanding, there is an amazingly fresh voice that I really like that reminds me of Luther Vandross and Teddy Pendergrass and other men I listened to while growing up. Every time I hear a song by Jaheim I think he is the R&B crooner of this decade. It’s a little on the church-y side from the way it sounds, but I grew up listening to a lot of gospel so this doesn’t bother me at all. I hope it doesn’t bother you, either. The Cuban’s dad is a preacher so he probably very much appreciates this about me, though I doubt he knows who Jaheim even is. I’m still confident that he’d like this song.

LOVE Jaheim
Would love if I could read your complete post via Google Reader
He does sound quite a bit like Luther. And a bit like Rubin Studdard, now that I think about–that gospel vibe Rubin has.
