This business paid a fee to be listed on Mocha Momma because they feel their products are a good fit with my readers. Also, I read the Holiday Guide from Dylan’s Candy Bar and actually used it to pre-order gifts that I paid for. You’re not required to read it, but there *is*sugar involved.
Even though I’m on this strict diet and even though I am sticking to it and even though I have an end goal in sight, I am already thinking about what I’m going to celebrate with once I’ve met my goal.
I know what you want to say, but don’t. I promise not to go overboard.
My entire life I have had a sweet tooth. It’s not the best quality I have, but when I want something other than a carbohydrate I always go for sugar. Unfortunately, I’m a fantastic baker and have made many kinds of cookies and cakes and pies. It doesn’t help that I work at a school with other sugar monsters (ahem. Students.) because they always seem to have something in their mouths and it’s usually SUGAR. Those punks. Always tempting me.
So my goal date is right before Christmas and I’m doing well enough that I’ll probably meet my goal. Which means, of course, that I was contacted by sweets company to see if I wanted to check out their new holiday guide for sweet treats. Dylan’s Candy Bar, owned by Dylan Lauren (daughter of Ralph) has made a name for themselves in New York City at their flagship store. When I checked out their holiday gift guide I thought it would be full of wrapped candies that come prepackaged. Instead, I learned that they sell things like chocolate-covered strawberries and brownies and gourmet cookies and cake pops.
I haven’t had a cake pop yet but I see them advertised everywhere and when I’m off this diet I AM SO GOING TO HAVE A DOZEN CAKE POPS. (Specifically, I saw the ones Fluid Pudding made when she did the Lemon Supreme Pops and I think I died a little on the inside when I realized I wasn’t going to have sweets for a few months.)
The holiday guide also has things like a Belgian Chocolate-Covered Extravaganza (look, marketer/advertiser folks, you will get me every time with something that has the words “chocolate” and “extravaganza” in it) that includes cake pops, brownies, Oreos, graham crackers, and Rice Krispie treats.
Dylan’s Candy Bar holiday guide is equal opportunity with the holidays, too, as they offer a Hanukkah Tackle Box for $24 filled with jelly beans and Hershey’s Kisses, and other goodies. There are several gift packages available and, for a holiday guide, there aren’t so many choices that you can’t choose.
I might have checked out their candy of the month club, too. At the very least I checked it out long enough to see that they can offer it for 6 or 12 months. Not that I need it, but they offer a personal shopper that you can call to help with gifts. I wish I lived in New York because the store also has candy cocktails and that combines two of my favorite things I like to indulge in after work: sweets and girly drinks. (Though, I can do sweets during the work day.)
Basically, I’m doing my homework on just how I’m going to go into a sugar coma when this diet is over and this is the place I’m going to shop when I do it. It’s amazing that I’m not already a diabetic, but at least I’ve learned, on this protein-heavy diet, that I need to balance it out once I get to the maintenance portion of my diet.
