Florals and Photography

by Mocha Momma on October 30, 2011

It’s high time I tuned into all these categories I put on my blog. I’m not always one for sharing my photos because

1) I am a novice at this

and

2) I would hate to take myself too seriously as a photographer

There are three nice cameras in my repertoire but I always want more. Right now I am coveting, COVETING I TELL YOU, the light field camera by Lytro and want so badly to dig into the technology behind it with my students. They’re always looking for something new, especially after they master the current technology in our school. I’ve spent the better part of a weekend writing a grant so they can use them in science class but I know it’s got some crossover appeal in the tech courses we offer as well as our IMSA club.

When I take pictures I have the horrible habit of having thousands on flash drives and backup servers but only printing off four or five of them because I am critical. To work on that, I’m posting one a week.

This is one I took a long time ago that makes me involuntarily smile when I see it. It reminds me that I need a good macro lens to take more of them because I am so attracted to the idea and challenge of getting up close and personal with my subjects.

That also describes my job. But that didn’t surprise you, did it?

What a beautiful sunshine! It’s bright and gives me a warm feeling inside. It sure did put a smile on my face today.

A college friend of mine invented the Lytro, and I remember him working on the science behind it ten years ago when we were still in school. So cool. Hope you get your grant!
