This is a happy song. I am in great need of happy right now. When the weather starts to change to cold I am instantly crankier. Why I live in Central Illinois is a mystery to me. I am too much of a lizard what with my tolerance for heat and the sun. You won’t really find me complaining about how hot it is because me and the sun? We are friends.
I’d classify this as bubblegum pop, but I see no need not to include it in my music choices. Whatever the sound of sunshine is it must be happy.

The last time I saw Franti in concert, there was a group of deaf people standing just off to the side of the stage watching an interpreter sign all of the words to his songs. She was up on a pedestal and it was impossible not to watch her. About 3/4 of the way through this song, Franti brought her up on stage next to him, and had her teach the audience how to sign the chorus. It was acoustic and slow and incredibly moving. Franti is beautiful. His concerts are fantastic. This may be bubblegum compared to his earlier work, but not so bubble-gum-y compared to Katy Perry or Ke$ha.
I could picture this whole scene, Aaryn. I love that he did that! Sign language is one of my favorite things to watch when I happen to see it. It’s like a dance performance and I feel bad like I’m eavesdropping when I stare (okay, maybe I don’t stare) but it’s just so beautiful.
I love your story about Franti. I just crushed a little bit harder on him.
I love this song.
I had the pleasure of seeing Mr. Franti in concert, opening for Carlos Santana, just a couple of months ago. Franti was brilliant, and friendly, and unarguably gifted. This was the first time I had heard his music (I KNOW!!), and I am so happy that I had a chance to see him perform this song. He danced on and around the stage, and up and down through the crowd. Huge yellow balls were tossed through the theatre, and everyone was on their feet and laughing and dancing. He was so giving of himself and his music. I loved it!
This song never fails to cheer me up, and when I hear it in the morning, it’s better than a shot of caffeine when it comes to mood-boosting! I’m not a morning person, so… every little bit helps!
