Gang Starr’s “Above the Clouds”

Tags

I have a thing for East Coast hip hop. I won’t even lie about that. “Above the Clouds” was playing earlier this week and it surprised me how much I missed this song. Guru, one of the founding members, died far too soon from a heart attack in 2010.

This is exactly the type of chill music I need to hear today as I come off of my turkey coma. I’m not about to go out and shop for Christmas and mess with crowds of people. Forget all that noise. I’ll be here above the clouds trying to lie still and sneak another piece of pie.

It’s weird how I was listening to class ’80s hip hop and I loved LOVED every song and somehow I knew every song but didn’t know the name of any of the songs or what they were saying. So I desperately want to get some compilation of fabulous hip hop and yet I have no idea what to get.

To sum up–I realized I love hip hop (at least the older type) but just in some general way that prevents me from listening to it.

    The lamest thing ever.

Anyway, this is so fabulous. I guess i can get this on iTunes. That’s a start.
